Shiloh Shelter: To the Least of These

Hello everyone, today my post is not about me, instead it involves a family, specifically a young girl that I went to church with when I lived in Richmond, VA. About a year after I moved from Richmond to good old Columbia, SC, a family on staff responded to the Lord's call to the lost in India. This family has a daughter named Shiloh. She is an inspiration to me. Shiloh Shelter is her ministry there in India. Let me share with you her vision for Shiloh Shelter, in her own words, written in April of 2012.

"I’m Shiloh and I’m fourteen. My family moved to India two years ago. The Lord has been forming a vision in my heart over these two years, a “legacy” that I could leave. It is to help the baby girls in the slums of India. Let me explain.
In India, women often abort baby girls due to expense wedding dowries. Dowry is the money, goods, or estate a woman brings to the marriage. The future cost is so great, they just abort the girls.
Here, it is illegal to find out the gender of your baby. Yet, in the alleyways and villages, women will pay for illegal ultrasounds. The frequent outcome is aborted baby girls. When you go to sleep, by the time you wake up, over 200 babies will be aborted here JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE GIRLS! Some estimates are close to one million a year. I want to help.
My vision is to start a safe house where these baby girls can be dropped off instead of being aborted. I know many challenges are ahead so please pray that I will be able to get the right contacts, meet the right people, work out the legalities, and be able to make a difference in these baby girls lives."

Through the Lord's grace, Shiloh has had a lot of progress in the past two years. She recently posted a video of the flat they believe they will be able to use for the ministry. I wanted to share this with all of you: the video as well as the Shiloh Shelter Facebook page, and the Shiloh Shelter website are linked here in the post.

A lot of times I get caught up in the meaningless trivial things that I stress about. Whether it be school, grades, time, relationships, what-have-you. Things like this remind me that there are so much greater things to worry and spend time praying about. I want to encourage you to pray for Shiloh Shelter, and Shiloh's ministry to the young girls and families in India. On the Shiloh Shelter website there is information on where to direct donations if you so choose to support this fabulous ministry.

Lastly, I want to encourage all of us to remember that the Lord has blessed each of us immeasurably, and we should pass these blessings on to others in whatever way we are able.
